Rickey H. HicksRickey H. Hicks has a proven history of creating profitable strategic joint ventures in the U.S. and Africa. His global perspective as an expert in international, business development is complemented by his commitment to justice and humanitarian development as a civil rights leader in the U.S. In 1998 he was instrumental in the development of the Taekerodia Project in Ghana, Africa which resulted in a direct investment of $153 million to modernize the country’s electric power and supply system. The project was successfully completed in 2000. In 1999, Mr. Hicks represented the El Shefa Pharmaceutical plant in Khartoum, Sedan. In the negotiated settlement that rebuilt the plant and compensated it employees after a U.S. air strike demolished the facility.

In 2003 Mr. Hicks entered into contract with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to modernize the telecommunication system. The project has generated a direct investment of $112 million into the economy of the DRC.

Presently he is organizing joint ventures in Tanzania for the further development of generation and distribution capacity in the electric utility sector as well as commercial diamond mining. He is also currently facilitating a joint venture exploration agreement between an American oil company and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In addition to Tanzania and the DRC he has assisted the African governments of Ghana, Sudan, and Kenya.

Mr. Hicks continues to create strategic partnership ventures, specifically in the areas of information and communication technologies, energy, agriculture, mining, tourism and petroleum sectors. Mr. Hicks is responsible for formulating business strategies, negotiating, preparing and executing contracts: and establishing strategic alliances in Africa based on the principles of improving trade, building relationships and enhancing economic and human conditions.

Rickey Hicks graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law with a Juris Doctorate degree. He is the owner of The Hicks Law Firm in Little Rock, specializing in Civil Rights, Contract Negotiation, and Venture Capital Funding. He serves as a political advisor, campaign strategist, policy advisor and/or public relations advisor to key public figures including President Bill Clinton, Governor Jim Guy Tucker, Martin Luther King III, President Bashir of Sudan and others.

As a businessman and community leader and the Pastor of Rufus K. Young A.M.E. Church in Little Rock Rickey Hicks has served on numerous boards and is the recipient of humanitarian awards for his service to the nation and the state of Arkansas.

Mr. Hicks was the 2004 recipient of the George Howard (Arkansas U.S. District Judge) Award, presented for contributions made toward the fight for justice, humanity and the disenfranchised.

He is a 2004 recipient of recognition and honor by President Bill Clinton in “A Salute to Unsung Heroes – One Hundred Change Makers” during the inauguration of the Clinton Library. This ceremony recognized one hundred national leaders that significantly impacted the democratic process and the American Presidency. The list included the Hon. Maxine Waters, Hon. John Lewis, Cicely Tyson, Martin Luther King, III, Rev. Floyd Flake and Whoopie Goldberg.

Mr. Hicks is the 2004 recipient of the Arkansas United Church of Christ “Man of the Year” award.

He was a member of the University of Arkansas (Central Arkansas) Board of Trustees from 1997-2003.

Mr. Hicks was a 1998 recipient of the William Moses Kunstler Award for Racial Justice (New York) along with Harry Belafonte, Phil Donahue and Ozzie Davis, presented for legal work that contributed to the strategy to settle insurance claims during the era of “Burning Black Churches” in 9 southern states.
